"My will be done"!
This "Skermon" (skit/sermon) about steering clear of the world's fleeting pleasures, focuses on three kinds of “idol worship,” listed in 1John 2:16,17. Each one is traced back to its roots in Satan’s temptation in the Garden of Eden (Gen. 3:6).
First, the “lust of the flesh,” is traced back to the fruit being "good for food.” In a modern parallel, a woman over indulges herself at the spa, "idolizing" her body. Second, the “lust of the eyes,” is traced back to the fruit being “pleasing to the eye.” In a modern parallel, a man buys a car he cannot afford; "idolizing" his stuff. Third, the “boastful pride of life,” is traced back the fruit being “desirable for gaining wisdom.” In a modern parallel, a man sacrifices his relationship with his wife to climb the corporate ladder, "idolizing" his image. The pastor comments on "idol worship" after each vignette. This script is an electronic script!
